What was their service?
Stuart has been a volunteer EMT for more than 25 years dedicating his actual blood, sweat and tears to the service of others. He has spent the last 20 years as Chief of the Wayne First Aid Squad and has lead NJ’s largest and highest call volume volunteer squad for the past 20 years. He is a natural at saving lives. He has more than 28 CPR saves where members that have volunteered more than 35 years do not have 5 saves. He is in his 70’s and still wakes up in the middle of the night to scramble to the ambulance building and take a call with a fellow EMT. Stuart is there not only for the 53,000 residents but also the 35,000 daily visitors that fill the malls, factories, 13 Private schools (four of which are high schools), Public Universities, and Corporate HQ’s, and across the 25sq miles of Wayne Township, NJ
What motivated them to serve/volunteer?
Stuart’s Loving Wife Doreen was first a member of the Wayne First Aid Squad and he saw that first aid squad needed help and members and she was his guiding light into a life of service.
What did they achieve/how did they make a difference?
Stuart has achieved countless life saving feats of heroism’s and many CPR saves. Wayne First Aid is also the lead agency for the township when it comes to vehicle rescue extrication with the use of the Jaws of Life which he has use to save lives many many times. Wayne being on the busy Rt80, Rt 46, and Rt23 Corridors Stuart has been involved in more than a 1000 vehicle rescues. Some can’t ever image accomplishing one tenth of what Stuart has accomplished. He is a close friend to everyone in town and all the Emt and Firefighters all look up to him. During the Pandemic of 2020 he did not stop his life saving. He was first on the ambulance and didn’t shy away from the brutal virus. He did contract Covid and fought it and returned on the ambulance a few weeks later. There is nothing that could stop his strong sense of giving.
